Today, something small happened — but I feel like I'll probably remember it for a very long time.
I connected AI to a personalized scheduling system that I built for myself.
Then, based on my schedule and current project progress, it inferred what work should happen next.
After that, it automatically sent emails to the relevant team members.
Even more interestingly,
their feedback flowed directly back into my scheduling system.
At that moment, I suddenly realized:
some things had started to truly operate on their own.
The old tools only recorded
Most software in the past was simply designed to record things.
Calendars were static.
Todo lists were static.
Reminders were static.
They quietly sat there,
waiting for you to open them, review them, and manually push things forward.
But today felt different.
Because the system started to:
understand context,
infer next actions,
proactively move work forward,
receive feedback,
and continuously update its own state.
For the first time, I felt:
AI was no longer limited to responding every time I told it to do something.
It had started participating in real workflows.
Continuity, before creativity
And more importantly,
it had started proactively helping me maintain:
continuity.
Most work is not actually difficult.
What makes things exhausting is that they constantly:
get forgotten,
become interrupted,
stall inside someone else's inbox,
disappear during context switching.
The human brain is simply not designed to continuously track large numbers of open loops.
A lot of mental fatigue does not come from doing the work itself.
It comes from:
constantly trying to remember what still has not fallen apart.
But today, when I watched tasks being automatically pushed forward,
and feedback flowing back into the system on its own,
I experienced a very strange feeling:
some parts of reality no longer depended entirely on me manually holding everything together.
At that moment, I suddenly understood something:
maybe AI will not first change human creativity.
Maybe it will first change:
continuity.
Because what modern life destroys most easily is not capability.
It is:
long-term follow-through,
sustained momentum,
context preservation,
coordination across time,
continuous handling of complexity.
And strangely enough,
those are exactly the kinds of things AI is exceptionally good at.
The digital counterpart
In some sense,
today did not feel like I "built an AI automation."
It felt more like:
my digital counterpart had started quietly operating in the real world.
It began to:
understand my working state,
participate in collaboration,
maintain task continuity,
keep things moving forward.
It is still primitive.
But what made me happiest today was not the automation itself.
It was the feeling that:
things were finally starting to land somewhere.
Like all the tasks and responsibilities that could have quietly scattered across time…
were finally being gently caught by a system that keeps running, even when I stop looking at it.
